Mossloth lives in the trees. It is the colour of moss and is soft and raggety. It lives in a separate time zone and as a result can appear to humans, to be very slow and hard to understand. Often it leaves messages for other beings but they are usually delayed and not often recieved in time. However if you pay attention to Mossloth and have the patience to engage with it’s slow interactions, you can find invaluable knowledge.
Toitlehair doesn’t know what it is, sometimes it remembers and has a vague memory of a memory about some past life it might have had, but then it forgets and becomes concerned with the present. To look at, Toitlehair has a large round shell but its soft flesh and appendages are interchangable and can be swapped with other Toitlehair like creatures. Maybe this is why it cannot identify itself and forgets itself. The truth is, it is actually a part of a collective being that has no one identity. Some day, all the Toitlehairs will merge to formal an ultimate being…if they ever remember their purpose.
No-one knows what this Changeling really looks like, because it is able to disguise itself as any creature it finds in your imagination.
This is often a beloved pet, but it could also be something you find frightening or disgusting.
Legends say that if anyone is able to see its true form, they will be granted a wish, but they also suggest that the real face of The Samiliar is so terrifying, that it could drive you mad to see it.
Stick-key-leg has long spindly front legs made of sticks. She has 3 ears, one is spare and she lives in a den in the woods and mainly occupies the forest floors looking for twigs. she likes to renew her stick legs about once a day, she searches in wooded areas for long sticks that she likes the look of, that she can use as her legs. Sometimes she likes to have leafy twigs and sometimes she likes knobbly bark twigs. When she doesn’t have any twigs/front legs, she can’t walk very well and is very vulnerable. While she is in this vulnerable state she must use her tail spindly for balance.
Trot Ear has a cat like build, and trotters. it has a dark semi circle shape on its forehead that looks like it’s wearing a cap. The colour of its fur/skin is a varying gradient of light grey to black, depending on its environment, it is very sensitive to the emotions of the collective conscience, and reacts to it by changing the shade of its skin/fur and contemplating the thoughts of others. It doesn’t feel compassion or sorrow, it is merely fascinated by the feelings of other things, particularly sorrow, probably because it can’t feel this. It can often be found standing in the middle of a clearing staring into nothingness as it contemplates life, death and the universe. It looks like a black silhouette when it is does this, black is the colour it turns when it is at it’s most thoughtful. In the past it has been mistaken for The Grim – the black dog that represents death, because it is sometimes drawn to death and sadness and is about the size of a large dog. It is not helpful, so don’t bother asking it anything, if you want a straight answer. In fact it’s pretty useless at many things and doesn’t even have intestines.
Tentaclebeak is a teleslime generator.
His long green cattlepiller body has different sized exorchids blooming down the sides.
Glowing green pulsating blobs of teleslime ooze from the flower-like blossoms.
Small colourful beetles scurry over him, collecting the teleslime in little beads between their mandiblehands.
Long and constant processions of the beetles extend from his body in single file, backwards and forwards- taking teleslime to the teleportals.
Rootlike, fractal, they appear almost as part of Tentaclebeak, extending into the woods all around him.
Stories have been told for years about changelings ossifying when they die.
So, how does that work? What is really happening?
Well, those humans who are capable can initially become changelings by performing ritualised animal acts.
When they are fully developed changelings, they can manifest different parts of different animals at the same time, like a kind of ‘cut-up’ mutation. This is called a “Burrough’s” state, and cannot usually be maintained for very long.
Once changelings become accomplished enough, they can leave their bodies behind entirely, and, as they do, they leave behind a wooden or stone form.
Other changelings can still communicate with the disembodied changeling through this stone or dead-wood form.
Zgillz is a mutant proto-amphibian being.
He has lungs and gills like a lungfish and is constantly gulping for air, especially when he tries to speak.
Because he is unused to moving about on land, he needs a walking stick to support his weight.
His skin is grey and smooth.
On hot and dry days, he needs to keep moist when he is out of water or he’ll dry up and die.
He has undergone extensive training by Sufis and Taoist Mystics in all manner of guided meditation techniques and astral projection. He is able to view the future remotely.
… is a black meat vendor, her eyes are multiple, they shine with the promise of the dark sun. Her hands and feet are chitinous and pointed and scratch you as they touch.
